Job Description Machining Manager Reports To : Plant Manager
Primary Functions Organize, plan, and manage all capital resources,
human resources, and operations within the Machining Department
including the following primary and secondary operations: --
Grinding Heat Treat Shot Blasting Straightening -- VMC Machining
HMC Machining LMC Machining Deburring -- Buffing Leaking Pressing
Sawing -- Final Audit Packing CNC Setup Duties and Overall
Responsibilities -- Monitor, correct and improve department
Efficiency/Utilization/Productivity metrics daily -- Schedule
capital and human resources efficiently and effectively to meet
customer orders -- Monitor and adjust staffing requirements as
needed with Human Resources Department -- Address and correct
opportunities identified through the employee safety suggestion
system -- Develop, coach, and hold staff accountable to performance
and company policies as required -- Order and maintain on-hand
perishable tooling through Toolboss/ERP system -- Direct department
Supervision and Material Handlers as necessary -- Complete Process
Change Requests as needed for process changes -- Monitor and
maintain department employee training -- Conduct weekly department
Toolbox meetings -- Layered Process Audits -- Safety Audits --
Performs other duties as assigned Key Performance Indicators --
Department Efficiency 100% -- Department Utilization 90% --
Department Productivity 90% -- On-Time Delivery 97% Physical
Requirements The physical requirements for this position require
intermittent standing, walking, bending, sitting, pushing/pulling
and lifting of parts up to 50 pounds. The Machining Manager should
have the physical and mental ability to perform the above necessary
job functions while maintaining an exemplary safety record. General
Skills and Experience -- 2-5 years management experience in a
manufacturing environment (machining preferred) -- Ability to adapt
to changing requirements with minimal interruption of normal
workflow -- Excellent time management skills, problem solving
skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks -- Strong
organizational skills and attention to detail -- Ability to read,
analyze and interpret manufacturing documents such as prints,
instruction manuals, process sheets, work instructions, and safety
documents -- Safety focused work habits -- Enthusiastic,
