ReDiscover is a nonprofit community mental health agency that offers a full spectrum of programs and services for people whose lives have been affected by serious mental illness and/or substance use. ReDiscover helps men, women, and children who have limited income, no insurance or who are under-insured.We started out in Lee's Summit, MO as a group of volunteers in the basement of a local church. We incorporated in 1969. Over the years, the community has known our agency and our unique programs by several different names, including Research Mental Health, North Star, and Common Ground. In 2003, we permanently changed our agency name to ReDiscover.POSITION OVERVIEWUnder the general direction of the Program Manager, the Licensed Clinical Therapist provides cooperative efforts with all program staff and management to develop and integrate services for the agency.The Licensed Clinical Therapist will provide bio-psycho-social assessment, psychological evaluation, individual, group and family psychotherapy and case management services for adults and children who are in services with ReDiscover in accordance with the standards of clinical practice established by the State of Missouri and the policies and procedures of ReDiscover.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides ongoing individual counseling to assigned clients in a clinically appropriate manner that meets the needs of the individual client
  • Works to develop rapport and a good working relationships with clients and addresses behaviors that interfere with progress in treatment
  • Establishes and maintains professional boundaries while working with all clients and maintains confidentiality
  • Continually assesses client for lack of progress, progress, or emergent needs and addresses those clinically as they arise
  • Actively engages in problem solving issues that arise involving client care to an appropriate resolution
  • Produces high quality assessments, in a timely manner, including information from other sources
  • Develops clinically sound treatment plans based on the client needs
  • Completes clinical reviews/transition plans accurately and timely reflecting the progress or lack of over the review period
  • Updates treatment plans throughout the treatment process as clinically appropriate and according to established time frames
  • Demonstrates effective organizational skills regarding flow of paperwork related to the client chart (signatures, authorizations, releases, etc)
  • Establishes and communicates goals with the clients to assist them in moving through the levels of care
  • Works with all members of the primary treatment team as well as department treatment team to ensure positive communication regarding coordination of client care
  • Works with external providers to ensure positive communication regarding coordination of client care
  • Presents information regarding clients in a concise, accurate, clinical manner identifying progress or lack thereof (team meeting, authorizations, mini staffing, etc.)
  • Works with client or external supports to engage a client's support system in the treatment process.
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in a social science related discipline.EXPERIENCE:
      • At least two (2) years clinical experience in direct service provision in a mental health setting.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
        • Licensure is required as a Professional Counselor, a Clinical Social Worker, or a Marriage and Family Therapist by the State of Missouri.
        • Must possess a working knowledge of mental illness and/substance use.
        • Excellent motivational interviewing and active listening skills to engage persons, build trust and rapport, and obtain information necessary for the assessment.
        • Trauma informed approach to persons served.
        • Strong motivational skills and self- motivation.
        • The ability to work with all persons with multiple challenges (mental illness, substance use, physical challenges, intellectual disabilities, etc.).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
          • Additional experience and course work in the mental health/substance abuse/criminal justice related field is preferred.
          • Experience in a mental health or substance abuse setting and/or with clients who have co-occurring mental health disorders is preferred.SALARY:
