Job Description:
Find your calling at Mercy! Overview Responsible and accountable
for assessing and participating in the planning of care for the
peri-operative patient through the services offered in the
pre-admission screening program. Responsible for gathering health
information from each surgical patient who registers into the
facility the day of procedure. Accountable for evaluating
information provided and planning patients pre-operative
preparation needs appropriately. Prepares each patient in a timely
manner, following all hospital policies, procedures and standards
of care. Assures proper communication is given to the appropriate
surgical team member for special patient needs. Maintains competent
nursing skill level to ensure provision of safe quality patient
care. The RN assures that the philosophy, mission, goals,
objectives, policies and procedures of Mercy Hospital are followed.
Is sensitive to the needs of patients, families and fellow
co-workers; plans and provides professional nursing care for
patients in accordance with age specific needs; plans and provides
professional nursing care for patients in accordance with any
identified cultural diversity needs (such as religions, lifestyles,
beliefs, physical capabilities, and cultures); plans and provides
professional nursing care for patients by assuring appropriate and
effective pain management; assess, report, and assist any patients
that present with evidence of abuse and/or neglect; and supports
the mission of Mercy Hospital. Co-workers are expected to abide by
safety and infection control policies to maintain a safe
environment for patients and co-workers. Position Details: Mercy
Hospital Washington Position: RN Admitting Nurse – Med/Surg
(Adults/Peds) Status: Full-Time (36 hrs/week) Shift: 10:00 AM –
10:30 PM | Monday–Friday | No Weekends | 2-Holiday Rotation

Overview As an RN Admitting Nurse, you will play a critical role in
assessing and planning care for peri-operative patients through our
pre-admission screening program. Responsibilities include:
Gathering health information from surgical patients upon
registration Evaluating and planning pre-operative preparation
needs Preparing patients in a timely manner while following
hospital policies and standards of care Communicating special
patient needs to the surgical team Maintaining competent nursing
skills to ensure safe, quality care You’ll uphold Mercy Hospital’s
mission and values, provide culturally sensitive care, ensure
effective pain management, and report any signs of abuse or
neglect. Safety and infection control compliance is expected.
Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program
Licensure: Current RN license in hiring state or compact licensure
Experience: Minimum 2 years inpatient hospital experience
Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) BLS (Basic
Life Support) – or completion within 30 days of hire Unit-specific
certifications as required Physical Requirements: Ability to
push/pull/lift 50 lbs regularly; prolonged standing/walking;
