Job Description:

This position performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, employment equity programs, health and welfare benefits, local, state, and federal reporting. The HR Generalist relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under general supervision.---- -- Primary Responsibilities * Acts as subject matter expert on various human resource topics * Administers benefits and leave programs * Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations. * Adheres to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions (Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or Service Contract Act). * Administers benefits and leave programs * Other duties as assigned Essential Job Functions * Ensures compliance on various laws directly impacting human resources activities; provides input on Personnel Standard Operating Procedure updates as necessary * Regularly uses a computer and other office equipment such as scanner and copier. * Attends seminars and performs research online. * Analyzes and applies lean processing models as needed. * Performs trending, various tracking, and writes reports. * Provides friendly customer service and answers questions politely. * Ensures confidentiality on privacy matters and demonstrates good judgment. * Ensures compliance on various laws directly impacting human resources activities; provides input on Personnel Standard Operating Procedure updates as necessary * Acts as subject matter expert on various human resource topics * Develops and delivers refresher trainings on HR related topics * Abides by and ensures compliance with all company safety and security regulations * Facilitates exit interviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. * Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints. * Facilitates and/or provides training (including new hire orientation) to the workforce. * Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs. * Interviews, screens, and recruits job applicants to fill entry level, professional and technical job openings. * Reviews applications and interview applicants to match experience with specific job related requirements. * Escalates Items of interest such as but not limited to: employee relations issues, questions, concerns, complaints etc. up through the chain of command. * Other duties as assigned. -- Experience and Skills Experience Required:-------------- Four plus (4+) years of relevant work experience-------- -------- Preferred:-------------- N/A -- Education Required: ------------ High School Diploma, GED, or better Preferred:-------------- Associates Degree -- Certifications Required:-------------- N/A Preferred: ------------ SHRM-CP and/or PHR Credentials -- Skills Required: * Strong skills in interpersonal communication, writing, and organization * Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity * Good reasoning abilities, sound judgment * Resourcefulness * Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. * Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel and HRIS system.) * Must have mental ability to concentrate on fine detail such as daily report conciliation * Must have ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing -- Preferred:-------------- Microsoft-- Word and Excel -- Travel Less than 25% -------- -- Work Environment Underground location, dusty environment -- Physical Requirements ------ Strength Frequency of Use Walk Regularly Talk Regularly Reaching Regularly Hear Regularly Sit/Stand Regularly Use of close and color vision Regularly Typing Regularly Mental concentration Regularly -- -- Other Requirements This is a public trust position.-- Minimum qualification/requirements include: * Must be a U.S. Citizen * High School Diploma or GED * Be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, as-- needed * Be able to pass a post offer employment test * Be able to pass government background security clearance check (includes a credit check), as needed * Must be able to obtain and retain a Government public trust security level clearance. * Be 18 years of age or older * Regular and punctual attendance is required -- ---- -- We are an affirmative action / equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by law. -- EOE/M/F/DV Company Overview: Established in 2003, Brillient Corporation (Brillient) is an--Information Management, Intelligent Solutions and Business Process Management firm that specializes in providing mission-critical, consulting and technical services, and program/project staffing.
