POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Information Systems Director, the IT Systems Administrator facilitates the operation of Polytainers' computer network and IT Service Desk. This includes planning, network design, and installations. The incumbent will also configure, maintain, and optimize all network, hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime. The incumbent will also diagnose, resolve, and document hardware & software network and end user workstation problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required. This is a hands-on position where the incumbent will maintain end user workstation hardware/software. Our ideal candidate for this position will:

  • Consistently use good judgement while decision making and analyze problems to determine best solutions POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: Customer-Focused Desktop and Server Support Responsibilities
    • Respond to and resolve IT Service Desk incidents in a timely and appropriate manner while documenting the process. This includes software, hardware, and office technology issuesEscalate IT issues to the appropriate parties, as neededProvide end user training to support our continuous learning environmentProject Management
      • Oversee, lead, and implement large and small IT projects across the organization
      • Work cross-functionally with a variety of customers to meet their IT needs and complete their IT requestsIT Maintenance and Operations Support
        • Automate and deploy installation of software and configuration
        • Regularly maintain operating systems, applications, and security functions
        • Conduct regular IT business audits
        • Perform root cause analyses on major incidents and IT crashes, and develop recovery plans
        • Perform ongoing performance tuning and hardware upgrades
        • Maintain data center and environment and monitoring equipmentFunctional Support
          • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, internet, software, hardware, and intranet systems.
          • Maintain system efficiency and continual improvement, through measurement and control
          • Regularly maintain integrity of the network, server performance, data and securityOffice Technology
            • Order, track, and install IT-related orders for the building. This could include computers, cameras, flash drives, toner, and any other technology-related item. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Educational Requirements:
              • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or College equivalency Minimum Experience:
                • Minimum 3 years' experience in computing infrastructure management including network, application and data servers, installation, configuration, and administration Soft Skills and Preferred Qualifications:
                  • Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other desktop applications
                  • Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills
                  • Demonstrated customer service skills and abilities, including excellent communication and presentation skills
                  • Demonstrated high level of troubleshooting skills and abilities with a focus on getting the job done right the first time. Able to identify root cause issues and quickly resolve and de-escalate problems
                  • Demonstrated ability to manage change well and to be flexible and open-minded with regards to new solutions
