Job Description:

The Financial Controller is responsible for the leadership of accounting and certain financial functions for the business including financial analysis, forecasting and planning, accounting and controls, investment evaluation, and monthly reporting.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • maintaining and improving environment of controls and delivering accurate and timely financial statements,
  • supporting profitability for the business including driving and supporting growth and cost initiatives,
  • direct/indirect supervision of finance and accounting resources, including transactions services (AP, AR, payroll,
  • leading integration amongst regional locations and corporate policies and practices, and
  • coordinating state and local tax and regulatory compliance matters

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Accounting & Controls
  • Direct all aspects of accounting functions for the business including month end closing procedures and financial reporting processes
  • Create procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of close and reporting processes
  • Maintain and implement controls to prevent control weaknesses and improve financial transparency
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and accounting practices
  • Coordinate business banking and cash management activities
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulatory and tax requirements and coordinate with corporate resources on companywide tax and compliance matters

    Reporting & Business Support
    • Oversee monthly financial statements and establish and review KPIs by incorporating appropriate metrics for tracking performance
    • Analyze performance and coordinate with finance and business leadership to present financial data necessary for critical decision making.
    • Support leadership with profitable business growth modeling and evaluation
    • Evaluating existing processes, identify and implement best practices.
    • Prepare detailed forecasts and annual budgets for profitability and cash flow
    • Support as required in acquisition and growth-related activities; including analytical and modeling support for targeted opportunities, purchase accounting and integration planning and execution

      Leadership & Organizational Development
      • Provide leadership and continuous improvement for accounting teams and transaction services groups
      • Evaluate organization strengths/weaknesses, provide opportunities for continuous learning, and attract/retain talent
      • Manage change and assess change readiness. Requires the ability to proactively plan for change and be able to identify specific issues that may result in an effort to minimize risk and ensure performance improvement is achieved

        KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

        Technical
        • Exceptional command of financial statements and general ledger
        • Versatile in designing and maintaining controls through a variety of tools and processes including spreadsheets, financial reporting software, and manual oversight and controls
        • Strong analytical thinking and quantitative analysis skills
        • Ability to read and interpret contracts and agreements; including implementing and monitoring the relevant provisions of these agreements
        • Knowledge of acquisition accounting/purchase accounting including valuation concepts/ability to manage post acquisition integration and financial consolidation and reporting
        • Percent of Completion accounting methods and application of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards

          Leadership & Characteristics
          • Confident and adaptable written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner, and collaborate with corporate finance, business partners, tax advisors, and external auditors
          • Leadership skills with versatility to interact with and influence local and remote resources, and ability to develop and maintain business partnerships and relationships with key departments/leaders to support the strategic direction of the business
          • Persistent problem solver, including ability to coordinate multi-functional team projects
          • Ability to motivate and inspire others by words or action to drive the successful completion towards common organizational/departmental goals and initiatives

            REQUIREMENTS
            • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA / MBA is a plus
            • Minimum of 10 years of related financial experience, including recent comparable experience
            • Experience with systems implementations and process change
            • Experience with manufacturing, industrial service, and/or distribution businesses
            • Familiarity with P21 and BUCS BI tools, along with miscellaneous suppliers' software (e.g., Enterprise, Wex Fuel Cards, Security System Access)

              PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT
              • Walk, must be able to move about inside the office, shop and occasionally on a customer/project site.
              • Must be able to work at a stationary desk that can require sitting or standing.
              • Operate/read from a computer/laptop monitor for several hours including fonts of various sizes and sources.
              • Must be able to travel via plane or car as needed.
              • Must be able to communicate via telephone and electronic devices in the workplace.
